In Memory of Fred Grimm

Who was Fred Grimm? Why is he important to ConCarolinas. Without Fred, there would be no ConCarolinas. Fred, along with Irv Koch and Kelly Lockhart, were the force that formed what would become ConCarolinas. Fred served as the first ConChair.

Over the Christmas holiday, Fred suffered a massive stroke and passed away. Fred was an icon in Southern fandom and friends to many. He is remembered by Kelly Lockhart (2015 Special Guest):

“One of my long-time con friends, Fred Grimm, has passed. An icon of Nashville fandom for many years, Fred was one of those truly larger-than-life characters that made attending conventions so much fun. His passing has left a hole than can never be filled, but I am sure wherever he is now, it’s a happy place and he is one of the happiest there. RIP, my friend.”

ConCarolinas will celebrate Fred’s life at our 2015 event in May.
