Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day ConCarolinas style!

We’ve had a very unique opportunity to celebrate supporting some very young, budding authors!

CoCo A-Lo and Company

Jacob (CoCo) and Avery (A-Lo) are 9 and 6 years old. When Jacob was 8, he hated writing in school. His mother encouraged him to write about his greatest love. So, naturally he chose to write about LEGOs. Then he self-published it, donating the profits to the Donate-A-Room program of the Inter-Faith Council of Social Service in Carrboro, NC. It creates a welcoming environment in a shelter for women and children who are homeless.

This inspired his sister, who never wants to be left out. And they inspired their next-door neighbors, Tristan and Olivia, who thought it was cool. Together, they have self-published three books – about two evil skeletons and one princess superhero.

Their goals are “to raise $700, write 10 books, give a home to at least one homeless family, and maybe inspire 5 other kids.” So far, CoCo A-Lo and Company has raised $75.

What does this post have to do with St. Patrick’s Day? Nothing!  Then again, how many people who live in Ireland actually drink green beer?
