Every year, we have striven to make the ConCarolinas Short Film Festival something special for everyone. We’ve worked to make it a true accomplishment to be accepted, and the Laurels from our festival a Medal of Honor on your film posters. We’ve worked to make it a truly enjoyable presentation, and to make it a well-organized event for all filmmakers.
Sadly, we’re human.
A truly exceptional film won an award this past weekend at ConCarolinas, and the certificate was not printed or presented during our award ceremony. This is just as upsetting to us as it is to those involved in making this excellent film, and we truly apologize for the mix-up from the bottom of our hearts. This should not have happened, and is unacceptable.
“Hot Questions” is a tense, terse, and unforgiving film that pits a young man arrested for murder against an older interrogator who has hooked him up to a polygraph. As the situation goes from bad to worse, the film becomes even more stressful to watch, and the tension causes the viewer’s anxiety to peak as the final question is asked in an unforgiving and wild end. Since this film invoked so many of these reactions and emotions in the judges, we’ve decided to award the film cast and crew with “Best Suspense” at the 2018 ConCarolinas Short Film Festival! Please give them a bit of applause as you read this at your computer screen, and we are so glad that they submitted to our festival!
Please accept this award with our humble apologies, and be proud of the film you worked so hard on!
We also want to congratulate our other winners:
